How the California Girl Wears Clogs
From Topanga Canyon mornings to long evenings by the sea
There is a certain ease to the way she dresses. Nothing is forced, nothing is fussy. Linen that has softened with every wash, denim worn in just right, a cardigan pulled on as the canyon air cools. And at the end of it all, a pair of clogs.
We see her every day in Topanga Canyon, where our studio sits among oak trees and wildflowers. She walks to the market in them, drives to the coast in them, and kicks them off at the door when she comes home. For her, clogs are not a statement. They are simply what feels right.
Morning, in the canyon
A white T-shirt, relaxed jeans rolled once at the ankle, and a pair of Ella clogs in soft suede. Easy to slip on while the coffee brews, comfortable enough for a slow walk down the road. Our bendable aspen sole moves with her foot, so the walk feels light, even on uneven ground.
Afternoon, by the water
A long cotton skirt that catches the breeze, bare ankles, and Embla in a sun-faded hue like Havtora or Umber. The wooden sole and warm suede feel at home against sand-colored linen and salt-bleached cotton. A straw bag, a hat, nothing more.
Evening, when the light turns gold
As the sun drops behind the hills, the air cools quickly. A chunky knit, wide trousers and a pair lined in pure lambswool keep the warmth close. This is the hour for Holly, our clog boot, soft on the inside and made to wander a little longer.
The quiet rule
The California girl never matches too carefully. She lets her clogs be the grounding piece, natural wood and soft suede beneath whatever the day brings. Designed in Denmark and Topanga Canyon and handmade in Europe, each pair is made to be worn often, and to look better for it.
